Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS)
Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) supports eligible command-sponsored families with children who have developmental delays, disabilities, or special learning needs, in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Our Mission
EDIS partners with families, schools, and community resources to help every child reach their full developmental and educational potential.
For more information about EDIS services, referrals, and community resources, contact your local EDIS office or visit our social media page.
EDIS offers two age-specific programs to promote children’s growth and learning:
Early Intervention Services (Birth to 36 Months)
Early Intervention helps families who have concerns about their infant’s or toddler’s development. Providers work with families to identify possible delays in the areas of adaptive, personal-social, communication, motor, and cognitive development. Services are tailored to each family and delivered in natural environments—where children live, learn, and play. Parents or medical providers can refer a child by calling our office to request a developmental screening.
Related Services (Ages 3–21 Years)
Related Services supports eligible school-age children through evaluations and specialized educational services. These services address a student’s educational—not medical—needs and are coordinated through the school system. Referrals are made by the school; parents should speak with their child’s teacher if they have developmental or learning concerns.
